The goal of this project is to create a platform to support development of digital libraries. We believe that there is a gap between the need of researchers and librarians to organize and share documents in electronic formats on the Internet and the availability of easy to use and affordable digital library development tools. Our project is an attempt to bridge this gap through providing a Web site optimized for uploading, organization and dissemination of electronic documents.
If you are interested in starting a digital collection for your personal or institutional use, we invite you to set it up at dlibrary.org. The following features are available to dlibrary.org users:
- personal digital library Web site: http://(dlib_name).dlibrary.org;
- creation of categories and subcategories for your digital collection;
- adding documents and meta data about them:
- links to Web sites
- text documents (.txt)
- images (gif, jpeg, tiff)
- making you documents available to public or restricting access to them by password
